Are you feeling a little stressed and perhaps you are lacking energy? Try yoga. Yoga has been around for more than 3000 years and is known to have the power to heal both mind and body.  Yoga has many benefits, to include increased flexibility, reduced stiffness, better posture, a more toned body, a calmer mind, improved relaxation, etc.
 
Yoga in sanskrit means yoke or union. Therefore, the ultimate aim of yoga practice is to unify the mind, body and spirit; to bring them into complete balance and harmony. 
 
Although many perceive yoga only as being part of a Fitness Program, students quickly realize yoga is a fascinating journey which can lead to a greater self-understanding, inner peace, more balanced emotions, a positive and healthy outlook on life as well as clearer thoughts and a greater level of fitness.
 
Livingroom Yoga strongly encourages everyone to try a yoga class for it believes Yoga has many benefits and is for Everybody and Every Body, regardless of fitness level, age, or flexibility. We believe Yoga is non-competitive, non-judgemental and is personal: it is each person's journey and personal experience!

About Yoga
 
Yoga is based on 5 principles:
 
  1. Breath Control or Pranayama-by learning how to breathe deeply, we increase our lung capacity, enabling us to fully breathe
  2. Exercise or Asanas-are the yoga postures that can help us increase our flexibility, build muscle strength and joint mobility, strengthen bones and ligaments and also increase endorphins within our bodies
  3. A Nourishing Diet-helps us boost our immune system, ensuring better health
  4. Positive Thinking and Meditation-promotes thoughts clarity, calming the mind, increased self esteem, ultimately leading to a stronger "You"
  5. Relaxation-Calming the mind & body, releasing stress, restores the body's energy flow.
 
Tips for Beginners:
  1. Yoga is one's journey and not a destination; therefore, take one step at a time and let go of any judgements, expectations or competition
  2. Practice each time with the utmost awareness and intention
  3. Ask for guidance when needed
  4. Listen to your body and always do what is right for you and your body
  5. Practice Ahimsa, non-harming, towards your body and mind
  6. Take a break whenever you need one without being judgemental
  7. Stay Present throughout the class
  8. And most importantly: Show Up For Class! - its 90% of the effort
 
Class Description:
 
Yoga Flow (All Levels):
This yoga class will focus on alignment and integrity of poses while giving students options to expand their current practice. From beginners to advanced yoga practitioners, this class has something to offer for all combining breath with movement in order to build strength and flexibility. Advanced poses will be offered.
 
Restorative/Yin (All Levels)
Restorative/Yin yoga- The restorative portion of the class will focus on calming and relaxing yoga poses completely supported by props, releasing the body to rest for longer periods and thus receiving deeper benefits, encouraging the body's innate healing. In addition, the poses awaken dull areas of the body to improve circulation and encourage healing, while planting a seed for meditation.
The Yin portion will encourage the body with stretching its connective tissues which include the hips, thighs and lower spinal area. These types of tissues do not stretch the muscles (as in the yang form of yoga) but they stretch and exercise the bone and joints areas of the body. Yin yoga is a perfect match for yang yoga, and provides a deeper stretch and total relaxation of the body.
 
Candelight Fusion (Beginners/Intermediate)
A class designed to first awaken, energize and inspire you after which it will softly lead you to deep stretches and restoration, preparing you for a night of great rest! - This class will be led by Becci
 
Yoga Basics
This class is structured specifically to introduce new students to the benefits and practice of yoga. This class will provide a foundation for newer yoga students by teaching alignment principles, breath work, and modifications to maximize their poses. The teaching supports individual students exactly where they are in their practice. All are welcome! Traditional poses will also be taught.
 
Power Flow
Get ready to sweat and have fun! This class is a high energy vinyasa yoga class that will encourage students to let go and find the joy in their practice. The class is set to a fun, upbeat soundtrack. While prior yoga experience is not required, it is a good idea to have some knowledge and experiences with poses.  
 
Trim & Fit
Yoga is great for the body and mind and we all know it helps reduce stress, increase flexibility and strength; however, many different Asanas in Yoga help us to bring down the fats from our body and allow us to stay trim and fit. This invigorating, powerful and fun class will help us tone, trim and build strenght and flexibility.
 
Core
Go deeper into your practice by discovering and developing your core strength.Yoga & Core will help you become strong and centered. An hour long practice of mindfully sequenced asana and attentive breath-work, plus get strong in the midline while strengthening the lower back and side body. A complete and well balanced class. Mixed Level Class 
 
Class Etiquette:
  1. Refrain from eating anything heavy approximately 2 hours before class (have a light snack if necessary)
  2. Arrive 15 minutes early for your first class to fill out necessary paperwork, familiarize yourself with the studio and meet your instructor
  3. Wear clothing that will allow you to move freely
  4. No cell phones, gum or other distractions while taking a class
  5. Please arrive to class on time
  6. Please avoid wearing heavy perfume or cologne for people's sensitivities
  7. Schedule may be subject to change
